Context
Olive AI is a health tech company that creates smart automations that address the many repetitive and tedious tasks in health systems. With Olive, providers and payers can allocate the time and money otherwise spent on administrative tasks towards improving patient outcomes. After securing multiple investments and acquisitions, Olive turned to fine-tuning their online presence via a website and product library overhaul.
How can we make an AI B2B healthcare company understandable, tangible, and valuable to regular people?
To understate it, healthcare is complex. Understanding and connecting our core audience’s pain points to how Olive’s technologies serve them is key to conversion. This persona to product connection provides the basis for the site architecture, creating foundations for personalization in future releases.
Beyond elevating Olive’s overall aesthetic, design centers on pattern recognition and navigability. The choice of using photographs vs illustrations is determined by what kind of page it was, just as feature colors within illustrations are determined by which persona it was representing.
Imagery was considered carefully to aid the communication of complex ideas around automation and health systems. Art direction leaned into approachable ambition, inviting customers to join the lofty task of reimagining healthcare, while animated illustrations worked as visual metaphors for the often invisible processes of AI. The illustrative system was reminiscent of frosted glass and disbursed light and folded out across a given page, lending itself to different meanings with the same motifs.
As is the nature of start-ups, Olives vision is both expansive, and shifting. We created a flexible and modular design system built with the assumption directions would change and the library would evolve, ensuring the site can keep up with Olive’s ambitions.
